The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering focuses on the education and training of engineers with strong theoretical knowledge and practical skills in electrical power systems, electronics, control systems, telecommunications, and renewable energy technologies. The department equips students with the competence to design, install, operate, and maintain electrical and electronic systems that support industrial development and modern infrastructure. Through hands-on laboratory work, industrial training, and applied research, the department addresses contemporary challenges such as energy sustainability, automation, and technological innovation.

Department's Vision

Lead in cutting-edge research and innovation, reinforcing FOET & Busitema University's role as a regional hub for electrical engineering advancements

Department's Mission

Train versatile engineers with deep expertise and broad interdisciplinary skills to solve societal challenges.

Departmental Overview
The main aim of the department is to produce a new generation of practically oriented, creative, and innovative Electrical Engineering graduates with relevant competencies in power systems, microelectronics, automation, and emerging technologies, to contribute to socio-economic transformation and sustainable development. To produce graduates who are leaders in research, innovation, and industry, capable of addressing Uganda’s energy and technology challenges.
This is achieved through a problem-solving pedagogy: laboratory, interdisciplinary courses,
research into hybrid microgrids, AI optimization, and socio-technical electrification frameworks directly aligned with the National energy goals.
