Message from Head of Department (HOD)

Welcome to the Department of Agricultural Mechanization and Irrigation Engineering.

Our department is committed to providing quality education, research, and innovation in agricultural engineering to address the evolving challenges of food security, mechanization, and water resource management. We aim to equip our students with practical skills, technical knowledge, and problem-solving abilities that are essential for transforming agriculture into a modern, efficient, and sustainable sector.

We take pride in our dedicated staff, well-structured programmes, and growing research capacity. We also actively engage with industry and communities to ensure our training remains relevant and impactful.

We invite students, researchers, and partners to join us in advancing agricultural engineering for sustainable development.

Department's Vision

To be a centre of excellence in agricultural mechanisation and irrigation engineering education, research, and innovation for sustainable agricultural development.

Department's Mission

To train highly skilled engineers and professionals capable of applying innovative engineering solutions to agricultural challenges through quality teaching, research, and community engagement.

Departmental Overview
The Department of Agricultural Mechanization and Irrigation Engineering (AMI) is a dynamic and forward-thinking academic unit committed to advancing modern agriculture through engineering innovation. We train diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate students to apply engineering solutions to real-world agricultural challenges.
Our programmes cover key areas including mechanization, irrigation and drainage systems, soil and water management, post-harvest technologies, and agricultural energy systems. We emphasize hands-on training to equip graduates with practical skills in machinery design, Agro-processing, renewable energy applications, and sustainable farming technologies.
At the postgraduate level, the Master’s programme equips students with specialised expertise in planning, designing, constructing, and managing irrigation and drainage systems. The programme also supports research in irrigation, drainage, and flood mitigation to enhance agricultural productivity while also promoting research in climate-smart agriculture, energy efficiency, and post-harvest loss reduction.
